ProposalDescription:

Road reserves alongside the existing roads vary between 50m along the R101 to 20m along Douglas Rens Road. Pedestrian pathways in this section of the proposed pathway development will be constructed on both sides of the roads. There is a small section of gravel road between Douglas Rens road and the train station where the road reserve is only 15m wide. The proposed pedestrian walkways will also be supplied by street furniture such as park benches and rubbish bins and with the required traffic safety features in high activity nodes such as pedestrian road crossings

Expanded_Motivation:

The proposed pedestrian pathway network will be constructed within the existing road reserves of the R734, the R101, Douglas Rens Road and Hamman Street in the City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality. Construction will commence at the crossing of the R734 and the R101 (25° 24’ 21.3”S 28° 16” 57.5”E) up to the crossing of the R101 and Eddison Street (25° 24’ 42.6”S 28° 16” 55.0”E) and from there from the corner of Douglas Street (25° 24’ 41.4”S 28° 16’ 50.4”E) past the Hammanskraal Station to Hamman Road (25° 24; 20.9”S 28° 16’ 53.3”E) and then back to the crossing of theR734 and the R101 to where the proposed construction will start.
