Changes to SAHRIS!

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

Permit application for the proposed temporary export of two Coleoptera Hydrochidae holotype specimens to be sent to Dr Phillip Perkins at the Department of Entomology at the Museum of Comparative Zoology, Harvard University, USA.

Expanded_Motivation: 

The applicant has issued a loan of beetle specimens to Dr Phillip Perkins, Curatorial Associate at the Department of Entomology at the Museum of Comparative Zoology, Harvard University, USA. Dr Perkins is a world renowned expert on water beetles. He is currently conducting taxonomic work on several groups and needs to study type material housed in the Coleoptera holdings of the Ditsong National Museum of Natural History (TMSA) in order to complete his research. The purpose of this application is to request a permit/approval to send two Holotype specimens in the Coleoptera holdings of Ditsong National Museum of Natural History abroad for research purposes. The material is required for taxonomic research. Dr Phillip Perkins is in the process of revising several genera of water beetles from South America. The type material requested is necessary for completing his research. This research will improve knowledge of water beetle biodiversity through better knowledge and resources to identify, map and monitor species; and use this knowledge to study ecosystem services, red data-list species, curate, and database collections. The standard loan period for a Holotype specimen is 6 months. The material will be returned to Ditsong National Museum of Natural History in August of 2021.
