Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

Proposed Development of the ERPM Mine Village, Boksburg, Gauteng.

ProposalDescription: 

The old ERPM Mine Village is located north-west of the Boksburg CBD and is situated 1.5 km from the Boksburg Civic Centre. It is located in the triangle formed by Rondebult Road (R21) on the eastern boundary and Commissioner Street (M46) as the southern boundary.

Expanded_Motivation: 

The Ekurhuleni Human Settlement Department (EHSD) identified the land as a development area for housing in the Metro. The development proposal is as follows:  Phase 1 - RDP Walk up Buildings  Phase 2 - RDP Walk up buildings  Phase 2 – Social Housing  Phase 2 – Heritage buildings  Phase 3 - RDP Walk up Buildings These phases will comprise of a combination of different building types:  RDP Walk up units 3520  Social Housing units 1114  Total 4634 The retained and renovated heritage buildings will house the social facilities such as a community hall, an early learning centre, a clinic and the church. These are incorporated in the fabric of the proposed township.
