ProposalDescription:

SECTION 24G FOR THE UNLAWFUL STORAGE AND SORTING OF GENERAL WASTE ON 173 IMMELMAN ROAD, WADEVILLE, EKURHULENI METROPOLITAN MUNICIPALITY, GAUTENG PROVINCE

Expanded_Motivation:

With the current status of landfills currently close to full, alternative measures must therefore be put in place, as set out by Legislation (The Constitution, the Environmental Management Policy, NEMA, the Integrated Pollution and Waste Policy, and the National Waste Management Strategy). It is thus with this view in mind that the current facility was built. Not only will the environment benefit from reduced wastage delivered to landfill, the surrounding community as well benefited through employment opportunities. As it stand, the facility in question provides at least 98 job opportunities, ranging from sorters to management. If this venture is a success, various other similar facilities may follow within the Gauteng and other areas, amounting to increased employment and a conscious drive to protect the environment.
