ProposalDescription:

PROPOSED LAYING OF SEWAGE PIPELINE FOR FARM BESTWOOD 459 IN KATHU, GAMAGARA MUNICIPALITY, NORTHERN CAPE PROVINCE

Expanded_Motivation:

Due to challenges with the existing management and treatment of on-site sewage at the Bestwood township development, coupled with certain regulatory non-compliance issues associated with the existing oxidation ponds, cessation of the use of these ponds occurred on Saturday 16 November 2013, with all on-site sewage currently being removed by means of a vacuum tanker and then transported by that tanker for treatment at the Gamagara Municipal WWTW as per an agreement reached in that regard with duly authorized representatives of Gamagara Municipality. This is an interim measure, which due to both cost, and potential risk of pollution (in transporting sewage), carries some risk. A more robust (from an engineering perspective) and environmentally acceptable solution to this current scenario has been proposed by Kathu Property Developers (Pty) Ltd (“KPD”), in terms of which an above-ground pipeline will be laid.
