Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

PGS Heritage (Pty) Ltd has been appointed by Savdef Land 1 (Pty) Ltd to effect the relocation of fifty (50) graves located in an informal cemetery on the farm Hartebeesthoek 303 JR, Pretoria, Gauteng Province.

Expanded_Motivation: 

The graves will be adversely affected by residential construction activities on the property. The fifty (50) graves are situated in the informal burial ground; situated to the north of the Magaliesburg mountain series in the Pretoria West area (close to Ga-Rankuwa) and is located at the following location: • The Orchards Extension 89, on the following 8 erven: 10093, 10094, 10095, 10096, 10120, 10121, 10122 and 10123. This is situated on Portion 525 of the farm Hartebeesthoek 303 JR at GPS coordinates: S -25.638755°; 28.077550°. A process of stakeholder engagement to identify the buried individuals and to obtain requests for exhumation and re-internment from the affected family were conducted. This process commenced in June 2017. Bilingual (Setswana and English) site notices were erected on the 19th of June 2017 and newspaper notices were published in the Daily Sun on the 28th of June 2017 and in the Rekord on the 30th of June 2017. Mosiac Funeral Group will be responsible for the handling and reburial of the exhumed human remains. For their 5 graves, the next-of-kin does not know the date of and therefore assumed to be older than 60 years old as stipulated in the Heritage Act. The age of the other 45 graves is also unidentifiable and will be regarded as being older than 60 years according to the National Heritage Resources Act (Act 25 of 1999).
