Changes to SAHRIS!

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

PGS Heritage has been appointed by Thembisile Hani Local Municipality on behalf of Spoor Environmental to affect the relocation of 1 grave located in an informal burial ground located on portion 3 of the farm Vlaklaagte 221 JR on Erf 158, near the town of Tweefontein, Mpumalanga Province.

Expanded_Motivation: 

The date of death for the grave is 1930 and are therefore older than 60 years as stated in the National Heritage Resources Act (Act 25 of 1999). Mosaic Funeral Group will be responsible for the handling and reburial of the exhumed human remains. A process of stakeholder engagement to identify the buried individuals and to obtain permission for exhumation and re-interment from the affected families, communities and other bona fide interested and affected parties. This process commenced on Tuesday, 14 May 2019 with the erection of bilingual (English and Ndebele) site notices at the cemetery (Appendix F). Bilingual (Ndebele and English) newspaper notices were published in the Daily Sun and Witbank News on Wednesday, 22 May 2019, Friday, 31 May 2019 and 7 June 2019 respectively • Portion 3 of the farm Vlaklaagte 221 JR on Erf 158 (Tweefontein) at GPS Coordinates: -25.339290⁰ and 28.857190⁰. This area contains 1 grave that the family requested to have relocated because the grave will be immediately affected by construction activities that will be carried out on the behalf of the Tembisile Hani Local Municipality. The grave will be relocated to the Makometsane cemetery located in the Dr JS Moroka Local Municipality.
