Changes to SAHRIS!

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

There are more than 100 objects collected in South Africa between about 1840 and the mid 1880s. Her Woodrooffe male ancestor was married to the daughter of a Zulu chief. The artifacts may have been handed down as a result of the marriage. His father, Henry Reade Woodrooffe, was a missionary and later a deacon (?) of the English church in Grahamstown, South Africa. He travelled extensively among the local people and left very descriptive diaries (see images).It is also possible some of the articles may have come down through this channel. Without suggesting a definite link, there is a possibility that these objects may date from the time of famous battles between the British military and the Zulus.
