Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

C. SIGNIFICANCE: 1. Original date of construction/date of first approved plan: 1940. 2. Historical Significance : Rem of Erf 1742 and Erf 1738 consolidated to erf 3984 Built by a developer in the 1930’s on a subdivision of 10 Kings Ave. Refer to Ph2 HIA report dated May 2017 by L.Napier. 3. Architectural Significance: A single-storey house with basement garage designed in the Arts and Crafts style with stone, facebrick, plaster and timber. One outbuilding located on the Northern boundary with no.10. No original records of the plans of the house are available, it was likely to have been built speculatively and possibly from repeat house plans. 4. Urban Setting & Adjoining Properties: 8 Kings Avenue is on the corner of Stiebel Place and Kings Ave, with a driveway entrance from a pan-handle road near the junction of Stiebel Place and Kings Avenue. Architectural styles in the area vary : Arts and Crafts, Tudor and Contemporary. The properties along the South side of Stiebel place are smaller and buildings are younger than 60 years. D. PROPOSED WORK 1. Purpose of Application: CONSOLIDATION OF 4 SITES DEMOLITIONOF EXISTING STRUCTURES 2. Motivation for proposed work: The current owner wishes to consolidate 1, 3 and 5 Stiebel place and 8 Kings Avenue for an up-market residential development of 25 units. 3.
