Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

SAPS Museum Thefts

There have been a series of break-ins at the SAPS Museum between June 2022 and August 2022. Three robberies resulted in the loss of heritage items and two prior robberies culminated in the loss of electronic equipment and cable theft. All incidents occurred at the SAPS Museum Pretoria.

Expanded_Motivation: 

The first break-in was identified on Friday, the 16 July 2022, by a staff member of RLA, Sholeen Sanker, when they arrived for work around 07:20 am. RLA is the contractor designated to complete the SAPS Museum GRAP 103. 60 items were identified as being stolen. The second break-in was identified between the 16-17 August 2022, by Colonel Wagner, former curator at the museum, and Colonel Monsto current curator. A further 63 items were identified as stolen. The third breaking occurred at the Volkstem Building next to the main SAPS museum in Pretoria, on 25 August 2022. 5 items were identified as stolen.
