Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

On 23 January 2017, the applicants received a notice of intention to issue a compliance notice for unlawfully undertaking listed activities involving infrastructure used and proposed to be used for tourist accommodation within a Critical Biodiversity Area (CBA 1) in Magoebaskloof near Tzaneen. The three sites are located in the Woodbush Granite Grassland (Gm 25) vegetation type which is listed as a Criterion A1 Critically Endangered ecosystem according to the National List of Ecosystems that are Threatened and in need of Protection, National Environmental Management: Biodiversity Act, 2004 (Act No.10 of 2004), Gazette No. 34809. Prior to the receipt of the of the pre-compliance notice, Mr and Mrs Humphreys were unaware that the activities needed Environmental Authorisation (EA). In order to comply with the necessary legislation theyhave appointed Polygon Environmental Planning to undertake a Section 24G rectification application. Limpopo Province

Expanded_Motivation: 

The farms which, located on land zoned for agriculture, have been in the Humphreys/Mackintosh family for decades and are used for the commercial production of avocados, which, is in line with the zoning designated zoning issued by the Tzaneen Town Planning Scheme Greater 2000. The Humphreys have been operating 2 Self-Catering facilities (Herb Cottage and Coral Tree Camp) for tourists on the farm for a number of years and now wish to register the unauthorised activities with LDEDET. Furthermore, they would like to include a 3rd location (Daughters House), which has recently been built but is not anticipated to be occupied by their daughter and is likely to now be used for eco-tourism activities. Herb cottage The Herb Cottage is located on Portion 16 of the Farm Franschoek 593-LT. The Herb Cottage was constructed in 1998 and used as a horse stable on the farm. Later it was renovated into a tourist chalet (capacity 4 people), the footprint of the building was not enlarged. Coral Tree Camp The Coral Tree Camp is located on Portion 18 of the Farm Franschoek 593-LT. Earthworks for the foundations of the camp were completed in 1998 and extended in 2012/2013. No infrastructure was developed on the platform until 2014 when a Lapa and ablutions for the site were established. In 2015 the site was rented out as a self-catering establishment to tourists (maximum of 8 people per night). Daughters House The Humpherys daughters house is located on Portion 17 of the Farm Franshoek 593-LT. Construction on the house started 01/05/2016 and includes the House, carport and a pool which occupy an area covering 165.28m2
