Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

SERENGETI PUMP STATION TO THE HARTBEESFONTEIN/ERWAT WASTE WATER TREATMENT PLANT GAUT002/18-19/E0054. the basic assessment application for the proposed upgrading of the existing Serengeti Pump station as well as the proposed installation of a new sewer HDPE rising main pipeline of approximately 1700 m and a diameter of 630mm, from the Serengeti Pump Station to the ERWAT connection

Expanded_Motivation: 

The scope of works for the proposed development is as per the Detailed Design Report (2546/02) dated May 2018, by VIP Consulting engineers. The Serengeti pump station upgrade has 5 phases, this allowed for minor upgrades to be made as the demands increased with an increase in development. The following work was completed in terms of the Serengeti Pump station upgrade for Phase 1 and Phase 2: • A 355 mm diameter rising main was constructed and the inlet works, mechanical and electrical equipment for phase 1 has been installed. • The substructure and superstructure of the pump station for Phase 1 and Phase 2 has been constructed. • Phase 1 was designed to accommodate the sewer effluent from the Serengeti Gold Estate. The following activities form part of the proposed project: • Inlet Works- The inlet work will be for Phase 2-5 as the upgrade of the Serengeti pump station has 5 phases, of which phase 1 has been completed as mentioned above. The new inlet work will consist of screens and sand traps to prevent undue and oversized matter and rubble from flowing into the wet sump and subsequently into the pumps. It is proposed that the proposed screens be operated by hand rakes. • Sumps: The sump for Phase 2 has been constructed however the existing sumps will be upgraded. • Rising Main: A high-density polyethylene (HDPE) rising main with a diameter of approximately 630 mm is proposed along the same route as the existing 355 mm rising main. The rising main will be approximately 1.7km in length. The maximum velocity in the rising main at peak flow will be 2.4m/s. • Pump Selection: As part of phase 2, provision were made for three pumps in parallel. The insitu pipework in the pump station as well as the plinths have already been constructed as part of phase 1. Two pumps will be installed during the initial lower flow and once the flow increases to over 828 m3/h per pump of 1782 m3/h a third pump will be installed and commissioned. The two pumps will work in parallel with the third pump as backup during failure or maintenance of either of the two pumps.
