Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

Southey electrification project

Eskom Holdings North West Distribution has been requested by Kagisano Molopo Local Municipality to electrify houses at Southey village. The project is part of the 2023/2024 Electrification Plan. The new development consists of 99 stands and 71 of them are occupied. The houses are of tin, mud, and brick type. Communal water has been installed and Electricity to be supplied by Eskom. Southey village is found in the Ganyesa area within Kagisano Molopo Local Municipality in the Dr Segomotsi Ruth Mompati District Municipality in North West Province.

Expanded_Motivation: 

The proposed project will entail construction of a 22 kV powerline, low voltage network/powerline, mount transformers and split meters on the poles and connect houses. The extent of the powerline is more than 300m in lenth. This then triggers section 38 (1) of the National Heritage Resources Act, 25 of 1999, which requires the heritage authority to be notified. The area where the proposed development will take place has relatively flat slope, with sandy soil. Vegetation of the area is mainly grass, shrubs and scattered acacia trees. No heritage resources exist closer to the development area. The is existing pit toilets and underground water pipes in the area. Furthermore the area is accessed through a tar road
