Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

The proposed facility will involve the installation of a gasifier that will produce syngas from a feedstock of mainly plastics supplemented by coal. The syngas will be used as a fuel for a gas turbine to produce approximately 3 MWe Electricity. A portion of the syngas may be used to produce synthetic natural gas (SNG) through a catalytic methanation unit.

Expanded_Motivation: 

TCG proposes to use Plastic waste, supplemented with coal to produce syngas in a gasification process. The syngas will be utilised as a fuel within a gas turbine to produce approximately 3 MWe Electricity. A portion of the syngas may be used to produce synthetic natural gas (SNG) through a catalytic methanation unit. The proposed activities will include: • The receipt of plastic waste via road on site, from suppliers. • Offloading and storing plastic waste on the site. • Potential sorting of materials prior to feeding into the syngas production process. • Feeding of materials into the syngas production process. • The following sections provide a more detailed overview of the proposed activities envisaged at the site. The proposed storage facility for the waste will be built within the proposed site boundary of the syngas production facility. The proposed storage area will be paved and will meet the requirements of the NEM:WA National Norms and Standards for the Storage of Waste (GN 926:2013).
