Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

PGS was appointed by Glencore South Africa (PTY) Ltd to affect the relocation of 104 graves located in two (2) different cemeteries on the farms Klipplaat 14 IS and Boshmansfontein 12 IS, Mpumalanga. Martins Funerals (Emalahleni) will be responsible for the handling and reburial of the exhumed human remains.The graves will be impacted by mining activities.

DESCRIPTION OF CEMETERIES The details of these cemeteries and graves are as follows: • TOP 2: Latitude: -26.074150 Longitude : 29.157096 This cemetery contains 78 graves located on the farm Klipplaat 14 IS, near Ogies, Mpumalanga Province. The details of the persons buried here can be found in the attached grave register. Of the 78 graves, 27 have associated next of kin who have requested that we relocate their graves. Of the 78 graves, 51 have been unclaimed, where no next of kin have been identified. The graves will be relocated to the cemeteries as requested by the families. All unclaimed graves will be relocated to Kromdraai with the same dignity as the claimed graves. • TOP 14: Latitude: -26.0416399967 Longitude : 29.2028359696 This cemetery contains a total of 420 graves located on the farm Boshmansfontein 12 IS, near Ogies, Mpumalanga Province. However, 26 graves have associated next of kin who have requested that we relocate their graves to cemeteries within five other local municipal cemeteries. The details of the persons to be relocated outside eMalahleni can be found in the attached grave register. The graves will be relocated to the cemeteries as requested by the families. This application deals with the 26 graves that need to be relocated to cemeteries outside the eMalahleni Local Municipality. One further permit application will follow in connection with this cemetery: 1. One particular family, the Ntuli family, is still negotiating the terms of the relocation of their graves with the mine and we will apply for the relocation of these graves shortly. The Ntuli family are claiming 33 graves that lie in this cemetery.
