Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

Two Rivers Platinum Mine intends to do a Line Deviation for the above-mentioned project. The requirement is as a result of a new Tailings dam in the area of the old route. The power line will include 2.949 KM of 33KV MV line which will be connected to the existing poles at numbers UCH/TCF20/3 and UCH/TCF20/26 in the area (refer to the Span plan sheets and the Pegging Coordinates for more information) traversing DE GROOTEBOOM 373 KT, in Tubatse Local Municipality in Sekhukhune of the Limpopo Province.

Expanded_Motivation: 

The project area is currently natural bush (see photos below) but the future tailings dam and surrounding activities will make this area into a typical mining area. As the TRP mine would already have applied to SAHRA for this project, we request you to exempt this project from full heritage assessment studies or any further AIA/HIA studies and grant us permission to proceed with the development as proposed. However, should any of the heritage resources, including graves or human remains be encountered or discovered during construction, Eskom shall immediately cease construction, inform SAHRA office, other relevant Department and as soon as possible contract a professional archaeologist to inspect the findings and conduct investigation as prescribed by the Act.
