Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

ProposalDescription: 

At the request of the residents of West Fort, and in attempts to delay development until the heritage management plans have been perused and approved, students and staff from the University of Pretoria wish to initiate a vegetable garden project at the hospital, in collaboration with the community. This garden will require a minimal amount of destruction to the site. A garden no larger than 5m*5m*0.5m will be dug in an open area, the soil sieved for artefacts, and plastic laid down to prevent roots from damaging objects buried further down. I request that we be issued with a permit for the construction of such a garden, as it will assist towards the quotidian needs of the community, as well as in the delay of development until such time as SAHRA has been able to approve the developers heritage management plans for these historic buildings.
