Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

West Wits MLI (Pty) Ltd applied to the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE): Gauteng Region in terms of the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act (Act No. 28 of 2002) (MPRDA); and the EIA Regulations Government Notice Regulation (GNR) 982 of 4 December 2014 [as amended], promulgated in terms of the National Environmental Management Act (Act No. 107 of 1998) (NEMA) [as amended] for a Prospecting Right (PR) and Environmental Authorisation (EA) on various farm portions of the Farms Bram Fischerville 649 IQ, Roodepoort 237 IQ, Durban Roodepoort Deep 641 IQ, Vogelstruisfontein 233 IQ and various erven in Meadowlands, Mmesi Park and Bram Fischerville townships.

Expanded_Motivation: 

The prospecting right application over the various farm portions and erfs is for the exploration of gold, silver and uranium targeting the potentially gold bearing conglomerates (reefs) of the Central Rand Group, Witwatersrand Supergroup. All prospecting activities are planned to be noninvasive and will include a desktop review of historical mine information, concept level mine design and generating geological models, and conducting financial and engineering feasibility / viability studies. The planned prospecting activities are all desktop bound studies with no invasive or physical prospecting activities proposed to take place on site. The proposed prospecting right area stretches over an area of approximately 600 ha in Bram Fischerville in the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality in the Gauteng Province. The proposed prospecting right area is located approximately 12 km to the southeast of Krugersdorp, approximately 4 km north of Soweto and approximately 5 km south of Roodepoort.
