Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

FullStatementOfSignificance: 

Originally part of the farm Vergelegen that was granted to Governor Willem Adriaan van der Stel in 1700, this portion was purchased in 1708 by Jacques Malan after Van der Stel's recall. The erection of the main buildings is attributed to members of the Malan family during the last quarter of the eighteenth century.
