BKS1310/2627BA/BE009 is a residential complex identified approximately 10 m from the proposed AMD and treated water pipeline routes. A survey of the historical aerial photographs suggests that the houses were most likely used in the mid- to late 1930s when the Randfontein Estates Gold Mine was in operation. There are approximately 14 individual buildings within the complex and they are currently being used. Immediate threats can include threats such as corrosion or vandalism, or development such as drilling and site clearing. Potential sources of threats and risk include the proposed development of pipelines and the HDS treatment plant. The construction of the proposed AMD and treated water pipelines may cause alteration, damage to or destruction of historical buildings and structures older than 60 years.
