The Old Town Hall building situated in Main Street, Kokstad.
The Old Town Hall Building, together with the portion of land in front of the building, situated on the following erven: (a) Certain piece of perpetual quitrent land, situate in the Township of Kokstad, East Griqualand, being Lot 4, Block XXIX (now know as Erf 367, Kokstad)
(b) Certain piece of perpetual quitrent land, situate in the Township of Kokstad, East Griqualand, being Lot 3, Block XXIX (now known as Erf 368, Kokstad).
Deed of Transfer 6415/1897, dated 13th July 1897.

FullDescription: 

Designed by Architect Arthur Fyfe, the building is a good example of early Colonial architecture, is the most impressive building in the area and the symbol of municipal growth in East Griqualand. -glassed fanlights above main doorways,fireplaces original: many minor andmajor alterations during refurbishment to house public library.
Alterations: Interior modernised for public library: suspended ceiling obscures high arched ceiling: decorative balcony removed.
Impressive smaller town hall with collonaded gabled front entrance portico: two wings to either side: tower with original clock.
Interior: stained The Old Town Hall Building, together with the portion of land in front of the building,
History: Built as a Town Hall and municipal offices and officially opened 1901-01-01: interior modernised for public library and new hall built at rear 1934.
