ProposalDescription:

Proposed roof for remainder of erf 1042, Kloof (2 Edgecliff drive), Ethekwini, KwaZulu-Natal

Expanded_Motivation:

Dear Sir/Madam, Please give your kind consideration to the following. Please not that I have already applied and been granted approval for alterations in accordance with Permit 1017 to the home situated at 2 Edgecliff drive. I respectfully ask you to consider an additional requirement which I hope meets your approval. We would very much like to replace the existing tiled roof with a chromadek roof. The motivation is based on I beleive 2 valid reasons. Firstly the existing roof is not in a good condition and we are experiencing leaks. I suspect this situation to progress over the coming years. Please note we are not in at all a position to complete 2 building projects as replacing the roof in the future would most certainly mean replacing or damaging work already approved by your esteemed organisation. There are issues with mold given the dampness from water penetrating the walls. We also have the issue that the roof in some places either does not cover the full extent of the building allowing precipitation to penetrate the wall or there are no provisions for guttering. Secondly the general look and tradition of the home will be greatly improved. We are faced with trying to match new tiles with the existing tiles for the previously approved alterations which is proving difficult. This will leave us with a mismatch roof as the existing tiles are outdated and not available for general purchase. I do consider the new roof proposal more in keeping with the appearance of our beloved house. The neighbours on the right have a similar roof to the one we propose. I have been informed by a very helpful staff member that no planning permission for a roof is necessary, however we do require a permit to be issued by AMAFA. Many thanks for your kind attention and consideration.
