ProposalDescription:

ARCHITECTURAL REPORT & PROPOSAL The main dwelling and out-building seems to be in a fairly good condition with mostly general maintainance required. G and A Daniel have appointed Kwaramu Symmetry to submit building plans for the minor first floor additions to the existing out-building. The main dwelling will remain unaltered. The first floor additions are as follows: First Floor An open plan Bedroom and kitchen with a bathroom was required. The site being fairly small, it is proposed to add on additional space above the rear side of the out-building. The impact of these, rear additions to the out-building, has minimal impact to the existing dwelling. Needing access to the first floor additions, we have proposed to introduce a new staircase at the rear of the out-building. Please refer to Plan No. 08/2013/18/ Daniel.

Expanded_Motivation:

HISTORICAL REPORT \ SIGNIFICANCE The existing records indicate the original dwelling was built in 1931. In 1998 building plans were submitted for additions to the existing out-building. The existing dwelling remained without alterations. With regards to the property’s historical significance it is a typically pre-war Durban home as were most of the homes along Chelsea Drive. The main dwelling is typical of the time in which it was built, it does have defining finishes and details. If the out-building did have any specific features they unfortunately do not exist any-more. HISTORICAL REPORT \ SIGNIFICANCE The existing records indicate the original dwelling was built in 1931.
