ProposalDescription:

BOITEKONG RESCUE

Expanded_Motivation:

On 1 June 2015 skeletonized human remains were inadvertently discovered by Mr Ishmael Matshela and his wife Ms Mittah Mogobosha (0799009747) on their property House no: AB879, Mbeki son – (Dichibidung), near Rustenburg. The rescue was reported to Boitekong SAPS and a case docket was filed (Boitekong CAS 21/06/2015). Subsequently the case was referred to SAPS Victim Identification Center (VIC) who attended to the scene. During preliminary excavations Lt Edward van der Westhuizen (SAPS VIC) thought that the remains could possibly be of archaeological nature and consulted with Mr WC Nienaber (FARC, UP). Mr Nienaber confirmed that the grave was of archaeological age and recommended that SAPS VIC stop their excavations and back-fill the grave. Upon receiving this information Ms A Meyer (FARC, UP) contacted SAHRA BGG to inform them of the situation. Ms I Masiteng (SAHRA BGG) then suggested that FARC apply for a rescue permit so as to excavate and retrieve the remains.
