Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

Application in terms of the KwaZulu Natal Heritage Act (4 of 2008) for the condonation/approval/rectification of the unlawful commencement of work on, or damage of, protected heritage resources.

Expanded_Motivation: 

For some time cracks have been worsening in the walls of this church building and the Diocese has not had the funding available to make the necessary skilled masonry repairs. Eventually the east facing wall began collapsing, with mortar and stone work falling out. The building was cordoned off and emptied of its furnishings. As the wall continued collapsing an emergency decision was made to demolish it altogether, in order to prevent injury to people passing in the churchyard. A new church complex is being built next to this building and the original plan was to use the old church building for smaller worship services, Sunday School classes, meetings, etc. There are now plans to incorporate the stones from the old building as part of the new church complex.
