ProposalDescription:

Unauthorised Additions and Alterations on Portion 1 of Erf 379 at 260 Lotus Road, Springfield, Durban, KwaZulu - Natal. Drawing Number: 1122 150

Expanded_Motivation:

As with the growing structures of the family, it was vital that spaces such as the kitchen and bathroom grew to accommodate new and older family members. The 1944 plans denote a small kitchen space with an area for only a coal stove. However, with the family's financial growth , the demand for more modern amenities and appliances changed, naturally changing the size and scale of the kitchen. The curved wall in the lounge area was introduced as a feature screen that kept the bedrooms private to the public areas of the home. With the extension of the kitchen into the veranda, the existing house's entrance door had been removed, thus, the owner saw the need to introduce a new door into the lounge area.
