ProposalDescription:

PROPOSED FILMING Of ‘World’s Edge’ AT STERKFONTEIN NATIONAL HERITAGE SITE Introduction: On behalf of MY Entertainment, through The Travel Channel, we present to you ‘World’s Edge,’ which is a new series, but one that endeavors to engage in an honest exploration of people and places around the globe that, through an event, or series of events, have advanced over adversity and posed an answer to the question: “What happens next?” --- During our time in South Africa, the 24th of June to the 5th of July, we will be filming in multiple locations to explore and gather stories of persons whom have moved their communities and their country forward in the aftermath of the Apartheid. This is where the Sterkfontein comes in; Located at the caves, is the world’s number one heritage site, the Cradle of Humankind, where the 2.3 million year old fossil “Mrs. Ples” was found. Along with researcher Brendon Billings, we would love to explore an active excavation site within the cave, in order to highlight how one fossil can dispel the archaic notions of apartness between races. Proposed Filming Activities at Sterkfontein: During the day at Sterkfontein, in which we will be filming, the MY Entertainment crew and host are hopeful upon obtaining the following: a conversational on-site interview detailing contributor Brendon Billings’ personal story and perspective, along with, a compressed (10 min. estimate) version of one Brendon Billings’ “Bone Detectives” talks, a walk through the Caves (on site) and a close up exploration of an excavation site within the Cave.
