Dear Stakeholder,
Please see below the revised details with regards to the draft scoping report public review locations as well as updated public meeting details.
The public review period for the Draft Scoping report is from 29 November 2012 until 27 January 2013 and has been placed at the following locations:
• Thekwane Tlhage Primary School;
• Mfidike Primary School;
• UG2 Concentrator Reception;
• Tlhabane Public Library in Rustenburg;
• Rustenburg Local Municipality; and
• Western Limb Tailings Retreatment Facility.
A public meeting will be held in order to outline the details of the project to stakeholders and provide an opportunity for stakeholders to raise questions and indicate potential issues or risks associated with the project. The Public Meeting will be held at the Tshukudu High School on Wednesday the 16th of January 2013 from 16:00pm to 17:30pm.
Attached is the letter of notification as well as the background information document that contains additional information relating to the S&EIA process for the proposed project. Environmental Authorisation Processes for the proposed Re-processing of the Anglo American Platinum Waterval Tailings Storage Facilities located in Rustenburg
Anglo American Platinum: Rustenburg Platinum Mines (RPM) propose to re-process the Waterval Tailings Storage Facilities (TSFs). In order to receive environmental authorisation, RPM is required to undertake a Scoping and Environmental Impact Assessment (S&EIA) process in accordance with Minerals and Petroleum Resources Development Act (No. 28 of 2002) and the National Environmental Management Act (No. 107 of 1998). As part of the public participation process the public review period for the Draft Scoping report will be from 29 November 2012 until 27 January 2013 and will be placed at the following locations:
- Thekwane Tlhage Primary School;
- Mfidike Primary School;
- Fraser Alexander Offices at Waterval TSFs;
- Tlhabane Public Library in Rustenburg;
- Rustenburg Local Municipality; and
- Western Limb Tailings Retreatment Facility.
Three public meetings will be held on the following dates at the following locations:
- Thekwane Tlhage Primary School (12/01/2013, 10:00am - 11:30am);
- Mfidikoe Primary School (12/01/2013, 13:00pm - 14:30pm); and
- Photsaneng Primary School (12/01/2013, 15:30pm - 17:00pm).
