Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

Launch for the new version of SAHRIS occurred on Monday the 30th of October 2023.

Conditions: 

1. If the permit holder is not to be present on the site at all times then SAHRA must be provided with the names and qualifications of the authorised representatives.
2. A Phase 2 report must be submitted to SAHRA on or before 1 February 2006 on the mitigation of all sites. SAHRA reserves the right to withhold further permits if progress is not deemed satisfactory.
3. SAHRA requests that the following information be forwarded as soon as possible: A map of the entire development showing:
• sites that have been mitigated;
• sites that have been destroyed;
• sites that will be mitigated and destroyed and
• sites that will be kept.
4. By 1 February 2006 SAHRA requires a Management Plan for sites that will be kept, of which it must approve. This should be tied into the management of the area, as for example in terms of the constitution of the Body Corporate.
5. Reprints of all published papers, or copies of theses or reports resulting from this work must be lodged with SAHRA.
6. It is the responsibility of the permit holder to obtain permission from the landowner for each visit, and conditions of access imposed by the landowner must be observed.
7. It is the responsibility of the permit holder to protect sites (where applicable) to the satisfaction of SAHRA and the landowner.
8. SAHRA shall not be liable for any losses, damages or injuries to persons or properties as a result of any activities in connection with this permit.
9. SAHRA reserves the right to cancel this permit by notice to the permit holder.
