Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

Conditions: 

1. If the permit holder(s) is not to be present on the site at all times then SAHRA must be provided with the names and qualifications of the authorised representatives.
2. Archaeologists must be on site during any earth moving (construction) of sites 2530AB-MHC003, 2530AB-MHC005 and 2530AB-MHC006.
3. The permit holder(s) must be empowered to call for a cease works order where material culture is uncovered, until such material is documented and/ or rescued as the case may be.
4. SAHRA concurs with the recommendations for mitigation of sites 2530AB-MHC001, 002, 003, 04, 005, and 006. In addition sites, as identified in the report, should be mapped and documented. Site 2530AB-MHC006, may have a grave on site and should be fenced if it will not be impacted by any development. In the event disturbance of this site takes place and a grave is uncovered, its relocation will be subject to the necessary procedures as per the National Heritage Resources Act (No. 25 of 1999).
5. Adequate recording methods as specified in the Regulations and Guidelines pertaining to the National Heritage Resources Act must be used. Note that the position of all excavations must be marked on a plan of each site.
6. A standard site record form must be lodged with the Lydenburg Museum.
7. All material collected and excavated, as well as field notes and records, will be curated by the Lydenburg Museum.
8. A report must be submitted to SAHRA on or before 1 August 2006. SAHRA reserves the right to withhold further permits if progress is not deemed satisfactory.
9. Reprints of all published papers, or copies of theses or reports resulting from this work must be lodged with SAHRA.
10. If a published report has not appeared within three years of the lapsing of this permit, the report required in terms of the permit will be made available to researchers on request.
11. It is the responsibility of the permit holder to obtain permission from the landowner for each visit, and conditions of access imposed by the landowner must be observed.
12. It is the responsibility of the permit holder to fill in excavations and protect sites during and after excavation to the satisfaction of SAHRA and the landowner.
13. SAHRA shall not be liable for any losses, damages or injuries to persons or properties as a result of any activities in connection with this permit.
14. SAHRA reserves the right to cancel this permit by notice to the permit holder.
