Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

Launch for the new version of SAHRIS occurred onĀ Monday the 30th of October 2023.

Conditions: 

1. Adequate recording methods as specified in the Regulations and Guidelines pertaining to the National Heritage Resources Act must be used.
2. A photographic record of the landscape and stratigraphic profile of sampled locations must be kept.
3. GPS readings should be established and recorded for all sampled locations.
4. A standard site record form must be lodged with the IZIKO: South African Museum.
5. Sub-samples of material collected as well as copies of field notes and records should be submitted to and curated by Council for Geoscience, Bellville.
6. A progress report must be submitted to HWC on or before 1 December 2006 and 1 December 2007 and a final report is due on or before 1 December 2008. HWC reserves the right to withhold further permits if reports are not received or progress is not deemed satisfactory.
7. Reprints of all published papers, or copies of theses or reports resulting from this work must be lodged with HWC.
8. If a published report has not appeared within three years of the lapsing of this permit, the report required in terms of the permit will be made available to researchers on request.
9. It is the responsibility of the permit holder to obtain permission from the landowner for each visit, and conditions of access imposed by the landowner must be observed.
10. It is the responsibility of the permit holder to ensure that minimal damage is done to the sampled sites to the satisfaction of HWC and the landowner.
11. HWC shall not be liable for any losses, damages or injuries to persons or properties as a result of any activities in connection with this permit.
12. HWC reserves the right to cancel this permit upon notice to the permit holder.
