Conditions:
1. It is understood that ancient DNA analysis damages specimens so “each specimen will be photographed prior to sampling. The damage, however, will be minimal, and in general the specimens will remain suitable for morphological analysis. DNA will be extracted and analyzed in the dedicated ancient DNA laboratory in the Stanford Archaeology Centre, Stanford University. All the standard precautions used in ancient DNA research (Kaestle and Horsburgh, 2002) will be followed. DNA sequences obtained from these analyses will be deposited in GenBank, a public repository of genetic data. Specimens identified as deriving from domestic … cattle will be submitted to BetaAnalytic, Inc. for AMS radiocarbon dating”.
