Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

Cooper's Cave NHS: Site Maintenance Activities

This permit is issued to Ms Smith as representative of the Management Authority of the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site for the repair and maintenance of the protective fence around part of the Cooper’s Cave NHS in the same place as the current collapsed fence, and with a new gate and for the erection and maintenance of a series of protective gabions around the as yet unnamed deposit to the north of Coopers D within the Cooper’s NHS;
Conditions:
1. If Ms Smith is not to be present on the site at all times then SAHRA must be provided with the names and qualifications of the authorised representatives.
2. The activities will consist of: 
•Taking measurements and identifying appropriate materials for new protective fence around Cooper’s D and A;
• Removal and disposal of the current protective fence by the COHWHS Working on Fire Team;
• Site preparation for installation of new protective fence, such as digging of holes for installation of poles, trimming of grass within area to be fenced, etc.;
• Installation of new fence poles, wire strands and entrance gate;
• The fence should be inspected as arranged between the Working on Fire team, the landowner and the MA. SAHRA should be notified how often this will take place in terms of the arrangement.
• The erection and maintenance of a series of protective gabions around the as yet unnamed deposit to the north of Coopers D within the Cooper’s NHS;
• The removal of alien vegetation within the Cooper’s NHS;
• The trimming of trees and grass within the Cooper’s NHS
3.If the stanchions are to be embedded in concrete to prevent their being stolen, the scientist must approve the position of the fence post holes.
4. All materials for the new fence will be brought on to the Cooper’s site, as and when necessary, and will be located in an area determined by Dr Steininger, away from any excavations, dumps, sensitive areas, etc.
5. All waste material and left over equipment will be removed from the site once the installation has been completed, and the site will be left in the manner it was found (save for the new installation).
6. Dr Steininger must be consulted before any intervention and should be on site on the first day of the installation.
7. It is understood that the COHWHS MA will photograph the affected area prior to the installation, and again after the installation has been completed.
8. A draft report on the results of the maintenance activities must be submitted to SAHRA on or before the end of November 2014 and of November 2015. A final report should be submitted to SAHRA by the end of November 2016. 
9. It is the responsibility of the permit holder to obtain permission from the landowner for each visit, and she is responsible for ensuring that she has an understanding with the landowner concerning: the number of visitors and workers; speed limits on access roads; possible prohibitions on off-road driving; size, type and number of vehicles permitted; possible prohibitions on trespassing beyond the site; disturbing fauna, flora or substrate; appropriate hours of visiting and working on the Site; use of firewood, electricity and water; lighting fires and the prevention of uncontrolled fires and any fencing necessary to protect livestock. Conditions of access imposed by the landowner must be observed.
10. SAHRA shall not be liable for any losses, damages or injuries to persons or properties as a result of any activities in connection with this permit.
11. SAHRA reserves the right to cancel this permit by notice to the permit holder.
