Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

Conditions: 

1. Work must be limited to the exploration and recovery of material from the "Sacramento".
2. This permit gives the holder the sole right to work on the site for the duration of the permit period.
3. The permit holder may perform surveys on the wreck and may perform wreck scatter only. The permit holder may perform site inspection of the wreck and the canons only.
4. No wreckage or artefacts may be removed or disturbed in any way without a permit from the SAHRA.
5. This pre-disturbance permit does not guarantee that a permit will be issued for further work.
6. A detailed log book must be kept to record daily progress, the mapping and location of finds, features of the wreck, and sea and weather conditions.
7. A copy of this accession register must be submitted to the SAHRA with the monthly report.
8. The SAHRA Maritime archaeologist may request at any reasonable time, for an update on the work carried out.
9. A final report on activities connected with this permit must be submitted to the SAHRA within six months after the permit has lapsed. Failure to do so may adversly affect any future applications by the permit holder. Reprints of all papers, theses or reports resulting from this work must be lodged with the SAHRA.
8. If satisfactory progress reports are not received, this permit may be cancelled.
9. It is the responsibility of the permit holder to protect the site during and after the permit duration to the satisfaction of the SAHRA.
10. The SAHRA shall not be liable for any losses, damages or injuries to persons or properties as a result of any activities in connection with this permit.
11. The SAHRA reserves the right to cancel this permit by notice to the permit holder.
12. This permit is subject to a general appeal and may be suspended should an appeal against the decisions be recieved by SAHRA within 14 days from the date of the permit.
13. SAHRA may not be held responsible for any costs or losses incurred in the event of the suspension or retraction of this permit.
