Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

Filming at Sterkfontein Caves by the Gauteng Tourism Authority

This permit is issued to Ms Lindsey Smith who applied on behalf of the Gauteng Tourism Authority for commercial filming at the National Heritage Site of Sterkfontein Caves. 

Conditions:

  • SAHRA has noted that the crew on site will belong to Stepping Stones Pictures (Pty) Ltd. The names of crew on site during filming will be as follows: actors Rapulana Seiphemo and Kenneth Nkosi, producers Christelle Mande, Ntsiki Hlongwane and Mmarona Kgwele, director Simon Makwela, director of photography Ofentse Mwase and production assistant Oupa Mabeko. SAHRA also understands that a camera assistant, one art director, one art assistant, one wardrobe and one make ladies, whose names are still to be confirmed, will be part of the crew. 
  • The number of people on site should be minimized as much as possible to avoid excessive disturbance of the site.
  • The activities on site must be monitored by Ms Lindsey Smith of the Management Authority or by Mr Anthony Paton of Maropeng a'Afrika Leisure. The name of the monitorer must be submitted to SAHRA on the day before filming.
  • The officer monitoring the activities must be consulted prior to activities commencing on site to advise the crew on any archaeologically sensitive areas which must be avoided.
  • A report on the activities related to this permit must be submitted to SAHRA on or before the end of February 2015. SAHRA reserves the right to withhold further permits if a report is not received or is not satisfactory.
  • Copies of filming resulting from this work must be lodged with SAHRA.
  • It is the responsibility of the permit holder to obtain permission from the landowner for each visit, and the applicant is responsible for ensuring that she has an understanding with the landowner concerning  the number of visitors and workers; speed limits on access roads; possible prohibitions on trespassing beyond the site; disturbing fauna, flora or substrate; appropriate hours of visiting and working on the site and use of electricity and water. Conditions of access imposed by the landowner must be observed.
  • The applicant shall be responsible for compliance of the crew with the terms of this permit.
  • It is the responsibility of the permit holder to protect the site during and after filming and to to the satisfaction of SAHRA and the landowner.
  • SAHRA shall not be liable for any losses, damages or injuries to persons or properties as a result of any activities in connection with this permit.
  • SAHRA reserves the right to cancel this permit upon notice to the permit holder.
