Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

Temporary export of shells from the Pinnacle Point Shell Midden Complex

Conditions: 

This permit is issued to Dr Marean and Mrs Nelson-Viljoen for the temporary export of 310 shells from the Mossel Bay Archaeological Complex to the Isotope Geosciences Laboratory in Nottingham and the School of History, Classics and Archaeology at the University of Edinburgh. 

Conditions:

  1. The specimens must be clearly marked with accession numbers. 
  2. The material must be carefully packed and all packaging must be clearly marked with the accession numbers, the name of the site, and the name and address of the Mrs Cindy Nelson-Viljoen or of the Dias Museum in Mossel Bay.
  3. The material must be hand carried or sent via a reputable professional courier service unless written instructions to the contrary have been received from the responsible person at the repository, Dr Curtis Marean.
  4. The material may not be loaned to any person or institution other than Mrs Cindy Nelson-Viljoen without the consent of SAHRA.
  5. The remaining of the material after the analyses shall be returned to South Africa on or before the end of June 2015 at the expense of Mrs Nelson-Viljoen.
  6. SAHRA must be notified in writing of the return of the material, and a report on the activities undertaken in terms of this permit must be lodged with SAHRA before the end of June 2015.
  7. Copies of all papers or publications resulting from this permit must be lodged with SAHRA.
  8. SAHRA shall not be liable for any losses, damages or injuries to persons or properties as a result of any activities in connection with this permit.
  9. SAHRA reserves the right to cancel this permit by notice to the permit holder.
