Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

This permit is issued to Ms Stephany Potze of the Plio-Pleistocene Department (Ditsong Museums of South Africa) in collaboration with Prof. Fred Grine to export a sample of the Tuinplaas specimen for ancient DNA analyses. The work will be done by Prof. Eske Willersev of the Centre for GeoGenetics, National Museum of Denmark.  
 

  1. The specimens must be clearly marked with accession numbers. 
  2. The material must be carefully packed and packaging must be clearly marked with the accession numbers, the name of the site, and the name and address of Ms Stephany Potze of the Ditsong Museums of South Africa and Prof. Fred Grine of Stony Brook. 
  3. The curator of the collection must oversee the sampling. The sample may not exceed 1cm X 1cm. 
  4. The material must be hand carried or send via reputable professional courier unless written instructions to the contrary have been received from the repositories where the material are curated. 
  5. The samples must be kept for study purposes only, and may not be sold or exchanged. 
  6. The material may not be loaned to any person or institution other than Prof. Eske Willerslev, Centre for GeoGenetics, University of Copenhagen, Denmark
  7. Any material not subject to analyses should be returned to South Africa within six months of the expiry date of this permit
  8. A report on the activities undertaken in terms of this permit must be lodged with SAHRA before the end of July 2016. 
  9. Copies of any papers that may result from the export of the material must be lodged with SAHRA. 
  10. SAHRA shall not be liable for any losses, damages or injuries to persons properties as a result of any activities in connection with the person. 
  11. SAHRA reserves the right to cancel this permit by notice of the permit holder.
