For temporary export of the following 10 objects of feldspathic sandstone with impressions of marine brachiopods: AM7935, AM7936, AM7937, AM7938, AM7939, AM7940, AM7941, AM7942, AM7943, AM7944.
This permit refers to specimens of feldspathic sandstone that each contain impressions of marine brachiopods from the Devonian Mpofu Dam site in the Eastern Cape. The specimens are currently accessioned in the Albany Museum, Grahamstown, Eastern Cape.
The permit is issued to Dr Robert Gess, Postdoctoral Researcher at the Albany Museum in Grahamstown, to export 10 objects (brachiopod impressions) for identification by brachiopod specialist Dr Norton Miller at a conference in Melbourne, Australia during July and August 2015.
Conditions:
1. Only the selected representative of the material stored in the collection may be exported. The bulk of the material remains in the collections of the Museums named above.
2. The material must be carefully packed and all packaging must be clearly marked with the name of the site (if known), and the name and address of the permit holder or the respective Museum, in which it is accessioned.
3. The material must be hand carried by Dr Robert Gess.
4. Dr Robert Gess is responsible for the transport to and from the above mentioned conference.
5. Dr Robert Gess is responsible for the cost of the return of the material.
6. The specimens must be kept for identification and study purposes only, and may not be sold or exchanged.
7. The material may not be loaned to any person or institution other than the above stated participants in the study, without the consent of SAHRA.
8. No destructive analysis or sampling may be undertaken.
9. A report on the activities undertaken in terms of this permit must be lodged with SAHRA before the 31 August 2016.
10. Photos must be provided of each specimen and uploaded to their object ID section on SAHRIS.
11. Copies of any papers that may result from the export of the material must be lodged with SAHRA.
12. SAHRA shall not be liable for any losses, damages or injuries to persons or properties as a result of any activities in connection with this permit.
13. SAHRA reserves the right to cancel this permit by notice to the permit holder.
13. The material must be returned by the date the permit expires.
