Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

Conditions: 

For temporary export of four (4) boxes blocks of lithic and ostrich shell material excavated from Spitzkloof Rockshelter, Northern Cape Province. The permit is issued to Hugo Pinto (Department of Anthropology, University of Toronto Scarborough, Ontario, Canada) in collaboration with Dr. Genevieve Dewar (Department of Anthropology, University of Toronto Scarborough, Ontario, Canada).

The samples are currently housed in the Department of Archaeology at University of Cape Town. The exported material will be analysed in terms of recording of metric values in the Department of Anthropology, University of Toronto Scarborough. All material will be returned and, together with the remaining material, handed over to the McGregor Museum, Kimberley, by the time the permit expires. The selected samples will be sent via air courier.

Conditions:

1. Only the selected representatives of the material stored in the collection may be exported. The remaining material remains in the collections of the Department of Archaeology at University of Cape Town.

2. The material must be carefully packed and all packaging must be clearly marked with the name of the site (if known), and the name and address of the permit holder or the respective institution, in which it is accessioned or housed.

3. The material must be hand carried or air couriered.

4. Dr Genevieve Dewar is responsible for the transport to and from the above mentioned facility.

5. Dr Genevieve Dewar is responsible for the cost of the return of the material.

6. The specimens must be kept for study purposes only, and may not be sold or exchanged.

7. The material may not be loaned to any person or institution other than the above stated participants in the study, without the consent of SAHRA.

8 A report on the activities undertaken in terms of this permit must be lodged with SAHRA before the 31 December 2018.

9. Copies of any papers that may result from the export of the material must be lodged with SAHRA.

10. SAHRA shall not be liable for any losses, damages or injuries to persons or properties as a result of any activities in connection with this permit.

11. SAHRA reserves the right to cancel this permit by notice to the permit holder.

12. The material must be returned by the date the permit expires.
