Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

Haasgat unidentiifed fossil specimens November 2014

For temporary export of the following unidentified fossil specimens from the Haasgat fossil locality within the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site, Gauteng Province:

HI-14 -1 (13 bone & teeth fragments), HI 14-2 (27 bone & teeth fragments), HI 14-3 (approximately 16 bone & teeth fragments), HI 14-4 (approximately 20 bone & teeth fragments), HI 14-5 (7 bone & teeth fragments), HGT (approximately 35 bone & teeth fragments)

This permit is issued to Ms Stephany Potze (Ditsong National Museum of Natural History) on behalf of Dr Justin Adams (Department of Anatomy and Developmental Biology, Monash University, Australia) to export the unidentified fossil material to the Department of Anatomy and Developmental Biology at Monash University, Australia, for identification.

The samples are accessioned by the Ditsong National Museum of Natural History.  This permit is a renewal of permit ID_1958.

Conditions:

1. Only the selected representatives of the material stored in the collection may be exported. The remaining material remains in the collections of the Ditsong National Museum of Natural History.

2. The material must be carefully packed and all packaging must be clearly marked with the name of the site (if known), and the name and address of the permit holder or the respective institution, in which it is accessioned or housed.

3. The material must be hand carried or air couriered.

4. Dr Justin W. Adams is responsible for the transport to and from the above mentioned facility.

5. Dr Justin W. Adams is responsible for the cost of the return of the material.

6. The specimens must be kept for study purposes only, and may not be sold or exchanged.

7. The material may not be loaned to any person or institution other than the above stated participants in the study, without the consent of SAHRA.

8 A report on the activities undertaken in terms of this permit must be lodged with SAHRA before the 31 December 2016.

9. Copies of any papers that may result from the export of the material must be lodged with SAHRA.

10. SAHRA shall not be liable for any losses, damages or injuries to persons or properties as a result of any activities in connection with this permit.

11. SAHRA reserves the right to cancel this permit by notice to the permit holder.

12. The material must be returned by the date the permit expires.
