Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

For temporary export of the following 111 pottery samples:

9 samples from L8 LFS, 13 samples from L8 CFS, 12 samples from K8 CFS2, 5 samples from L8 CFS3, 7 samples from L8 CLS, 12 samples from K8 LDS, 12 samples K7 LDS2, 8 samples from L8 SRS, 23 samples from K7 SRS2, 4 samples from K7 SRS3, 6 samples from K7 SRS4

The permit is issued to Dr Jayson Orton, ASHA Consulting (Pty) Ltd, in collaboration with Vincent Hare, Oxford Radiocarbon Accelerator Unit, University of Oxford, to temporarily export 111 pottery samples from Bobartia Road Midden, Bettys Bay, for chemical analysis at the Oxford Radiocarbon Accelerator Unit AMS facility, University of Oxford, UK, from February to 31 December 2016.

Conditions:

1. Only the selected representatives of the material stored in the collections may be exported. The bulk of the material remains in the collections.

2. The material must be carefully packed and all packaging must be clearly marked with the name of the site (if known), and the name and address of the permit holder or the respective museum, in which it is accessioned.

3. The material will be air-couriered.

4. Dr. Jayson Orton is responsible for the transport to and from the above mentioned facility.

5. Dr. Jayson Orton and Vincent Hare are responsible for the cost of the return of the material.

6. The specimens must be kept for study purposes only, and may not be sold or exchanged.

7. The material may not be loaned to any person or institution other than the above stated participants in the study, without the consent of SAHRA.

8. A report on the activities undertaken in terms of this permit must be lodged with SAHRA before the 31 December 2016.

10. Copies of any papers that may result from the export of the material must be lodged with SAHRA.

11. SAHRA shall not be liable for any losses, damages or injuries to persons or properties as a result of any activities in connection with this permit.

12. SAHRA reserves the right to cancel this permit by notice to the permit holder.

13. The material must be returned by the date the permit expires.
