Permits

For temporary export of the following 2 objects: 418202, 418203

The permit is issued to Dr Curtis Marean (Institute of Human Origins, Arizona State University) to temporarily export two (2) mollusc shells from Pinnacle Point 5 and 6 for dating at the Beta Analytic Inc. in Miami, Florida.

Conditions:

1. Only the selected representatives of the material stored in the collection may be exported.

2. The material must be carefully packed and all packaging must be clearly marked with the name of the site (if known), and the name and address of the permit holder or the Dias Museum, Mossel Bay.

3. The material will be hand-carried by Dr Curtis Marean, who is responsible for its transport to and from Beta Analytic Inc. in Miami, Florida.

4. Dr Curtis Marean is responsible for the analysis of the material.

5. Dr Curtis Marean is responsible for the cost of the return of the specimens.

6. The samples must be kept for study purposes only, and may not be sold or exchanged.

7. The material may not be loaned to any person or institution other than the above stated participants in the study, without the consent of SAHRA.

8. No destructive analysis or sampling may be undertaken.

9. A report on the activities undertaken in terms of this permit must be lodged with SAHRA before 31 March 2018.

10. Copies of any papers that may result from the export of the material must be lodged with SAHRA.

11. SAHRA shall not be liable for any losses, damages or injuries to persons or properties as a result of any activities in connection with this permit.

12. SAHRA reserves the right to cancel this permit by notice to the permit holder.

13. The material must be returned by the date the permit expires.
