Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

Sampling and export of charcoal from Euphorbia Kop

For permanent export of the following objects:

Charcoal samples (ID 32640) from Euphorbia Kop

The permit is issued to Dr. T. Forssman (Department of Anthropology & Archaeology, University of Pretoria), in collaboration with Trent Seiler (Department of Anthropology & Archaeology, University of Pretoria) and Ceri Ashley (Department of Anthropology & Archaeology, University of Pretoria), to permanently export charcoal samples from Euphorbia Kop for Radio Carbon Dating at Direct AMS in Bothell, Washington by Jonathan Adler. The material is currently housed at University of Pretoria.

Conditions:

1. Only the selected representatives of the material stored in the collection may be exported.

2. The material must be carefully packed and all packaging must be clearly marked with the name of the site (if known), and the name and address of the permit holder or the Polokwane Museum.

3. The material will be air couriered DHL.

4. Dr. T. Forssman is responsible for the analysis of the material and its transport to the above mentioned institutions/collections.

5. The samples must be used for study purposes only, and may not be sold or exchanged.

6. The material may not be loaned to any person or institution other than the above stated participants in the study, without the consent of SAHRA.

7. Destructive analysis or sampling may be undertaken.

8. A report on the activities undertaken in terms of this permit must be lodged with SAHRA before 30 June 2017.

10. Copies of any papers that may result from the export of the material must be lodged with SAHRA.

11. SAHRA shall not be liable for any losses, damages or injuries to persons or properties as a result of any activities in connection with this permit.

12. SAHRA reserves the right to cancel this permit by notice to the permit holder.

14. Request to renew permits must be submitted via email (rredelstorff@sahra.org.za or phine@sahra.org.za ) at least two months prior to the expiry of the existing permit.
