Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

For destructive analysis of the following vertebral column fragment of the cynodont Galesaurus planiceps: NMQR 3542

This permit is issued to Dr. J. Botha-Brink (National Museum Bloemfontein, Karoo Palaeontology Department) for destructive sampling of a vertebral column fragment ofGalesaurus planiceps for bone histological analysis. The specimen was selected because it is unsuitable for morphological analysis and similar material is well known and thoroughly described. The material is currently housed in the National Museum Bloemfontein.

Conditions:

1. Sampling includes cutting of the material. As this will be destroyed in the process, the material will be measured and photographed and a cast will be made to retain its potential for future morphometric and descriptive research.

2. Sampling and analysis will take place in the Karoo Palaeontology Department, National Museum Bloemfontein.

3. All thin sections will be stored in a special bone histological collection within the National Museum Bloemfontein.

4. A permit report on the activities of this permit is due on 31 July 2017.

5. Reprints of all the published papers or copies of these and/or reports resulting from this work must be lodged with the heritage authority.

6. SAHRA shall not be liable for any losses, damages or injuries by or to persons or properties as a result of any activities in connection with this permit.

7. SAHRA reserves the right to cancel this permit by notice to the permit holder.

8. Request to renew permits must be done at least two months prior to the expiry of the existing permit.
