Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

Adams Papio angusticeps temporary export

For temporary export of the following nine specimens of Papio angusticeps from Haasgat:

HGD 627 (partial mandible), HGD 683 (complete tooth), HGD 632 (partial maxilla), HGD 1244 (complete tooth), HGD 648 (complete tooth), HGD 637 (complete tooth), HGD 619 (partial mandible), HGD 633 (partial mandible) and HGD 615 (partial mandible)

The permit is issued to Mr. Kholisile Nzolo (Curator, Council for Geoscience), on behalf of Dr Justin Adams (Department of Anatomy and Developmental Biology, Monash University, Melbourne, Australia,) to temporarily export 9 fossil teeth or partial jaws of Papio angusticeps from the site within the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site for stable isotope (carbon & oxygen), trace element and electron-spin resonance (ESR) analysis at South Cross University, Australia. The material is currently housed at Council for Geoscience, Pretoria. The permit will expire in September 2017.

Conditions:

1. Only the selected representatives of the material stored in the collection may be exported.

2. The material must be carefully packed and all packaging must be clearly marked with the name of the site (if known), and the name and address of the permit holder or the Council for Geoscience.

3. The material will be hand-carried to the Department of Anatomy and Developmental Biology, Monash University and the Department of GeoSciences, Southern Cross University by Dr Justin Adams. Residuals will be hand-carried back by Dr Justin Adams. He will be responsible for the transport to and from the above mentioned institutions/collections.

4. Dr. Justin Adams and Dr. Renaud Joannes-Boyau will be responsible for the analysis of the material.

5. Dr Justin Adams is responsible for the cost of the return of the specimens.

6. The samples must be used for study purposes only, and may not be sold or exchanged.

7. The material may not be loaned to any person or institution other than the above stated participants in the study, without the consent of SAHRA.

8. Destructive analysis or sampling may be undertaken.

9. A report on the activities undertaken in terms of this permit must be lodged with SAHRA before 30 September 2017.

10. Copies of any papers that may result from the export of the material must be lodged with SAHRA.

11. SAHRA shall not be liable for any losses, damages or injuries to persons or properties as a result of any activities in connection with this permit.

12. SAHRA reserves the right to cancel this permit by notice to the permit holder.
