SiteComments:

The structure on the site is a Grade 2 Heritage listed building (former National Monument, 1966) and is one of a group of buildings extending over four street blocks which collectively were declared National Monuments in terms of the old National Monuments Act (figure 4). The site is located on the south eastern boundary of this protected area, fronting onto both Church and Rose Streets (figure 2). The structure is a typical example of the types of houses that were developed in the Bo-Kaap between 1814 and 1850, and modified in the late 20th century as part of the conservation programme enacted in the area. The structure and the surrounding area are of significant architectural, cultural, historical and aesthetic interest.
