Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

The MUCH Unit at SAHRA is pleased to approve the abovementioned permit application. The following terms and conditions apply:

1. If the permit holder is not present on the site at all times, the heritage authority must be provided with the names and contact details of his/her authorised representative(s).

2. This permit gives the holder and/or his/her authorised representative(s) the sole right to work on the site of the Hout Bay Harbour Main Breakwater and Quay 1 for the duration of the permit period.

3. Work must be limited to rehabilitation of the existing Main Breakwater and Quay 1 using the methods outlined in the description of works attached to the permit application. All activities undertaken must be for the sole purpose of infrastructure upgrades to the Main Breakwater and Quay 1 only.

4. This permit does not give authorisation for damage/disturbance of any cultural heritage material not mentioned in (3) above. Should any additional cultural heritage material be discovered and be at risk of damage/disturbance as the result of the activities undertaken under the authority of this permit, SAHRA must be notified immediately and work must cease and may not commence until feedback has been received from SAHRA.

5. It is the responsibility of the permit holder or her authorised representative to obtain permission from the landowner for each visit, and conditions of access imposed by the landowner must be observed.

6. The heritage authority shall not be liable for any losses, damages or injuries to persons or properties as a result of any activities in connection with this permit.

7. The heritage authority reserves the right to cancel this permit by notice to the permit holder.

8. The closing report for the rehabilitation works on the Main Breakwater and Quay 1 must be made available to SAHRA upon the expiry of this permit.
