Permits

This permit is issued Dr Susan Pfeifer in collaboration with Dr Graham Avery for the export of six samples of human rib for histological analysis to be conducted at the Department of Anthropology, University of Toronto and radiocarbon dating to be done on four specimens at the Oxford Radiocarbon Accelerator Unit, University of Oxford, UK.  The specimens will first be exported to the University of Toronto for the histological analysis whereafter they will be transported to the University of Oxford for radiocarbon dating.   

Conditions:

1. The objects or specimens must be clearly marked with accession numbers.
2. The material must be carefully packed and all packaging must be clearly marked with the accession numbers, the name of the site, and the name and address of the permit holder or the Iziko Museums of South Africa
3. The material will be transported via high-priority courier. 
4. The samples must be kept for study purposes only, and may not be sold or exchanged.
5. The material may not be loaned to any person or institution other than to Dr Susan Pfeifer and collaborating institutions without the consent of SAHRA.
6. A final permit report on the activities undertaken in terms of this permit must be lodged with SAHRA before 31 May 2018
7. Copies of any papers that may result from the export of the material must be lodged with SAHRA. A report must be submitted to SAHRA on or before 31 May 2018
8. SAHRA shall not be liable for any losses, damages or injuries to persons or properties as a result of any activities in connection with this permit.
9. SAHRA reserves the right to cancel this permit by notice to the permit holder.
