Activities:

Conditions:

Based on SAHRA’s research and on the documentation accompanying the permit application, it is noted that the Arniston Harbour Slipway is older than 60 years and a permit application is required in terms of Section 34 of the NHRA.

Since the repair and maintenance of the existing Slipway will not increase the harbour footprint, the MUCH Unit at SAHRA is pleased to approve the aforementioned permit application. The following terms and conditions apply:

1. If the permit holder is not present on the site at all times, the heritage authority must be provided with the names and contact details of her authorised representative(s).

2. This permit gives the holder and/or her authorised representative(s) the sole right to work on the site of the Arniston Harbour Slipway for the duration of the permit period.

3. Work must be limited to rehabilitation of the existing Slipway using the methods outlined in the description of works attached to the permit application. All activities undertaken under the authority of this permit must be for the sole purpose of infrastructure upgrades to the Slipway only.

4. This permit does not give authorisation for any works, or any damage/disturbance of any cultural heritage material not mentioned in (3) above. This permit does not give the holder the authorisation to install a rock revetment. Should any additional cultural heritage material be discovered and be at risk of damage/disturbance as the result of the activities undertaken under the authority of this permit, SAHRA must be notified immediately and work must cease and may not commence until feedback has been received from SAHRA.

5. It is the responsibility of the permit holder or her authorised representative to obtain permission from the landowner for each visit, and conditions of access imposed by the landowner must be observed.

6. The heritage authority shall not be liable for any losses, damages or injuries to persons or properties as a result of any activities in connection with this permit.

7. The heritage authority reserves the right to cancel this permit by notice to the permit holder.

8. The closing report for the rehabilitation works on the Arniston Harbour Slipway must be made available to SAHRA upon the expiry of this permit.
