Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

Diapsid and Eunotosaurus Description

For temporary export of the following two (2) objects:

One (1) aggregation of basal diapsid specimens (BP/1/7607) and one (1) Eunotosaurus skeleton (BP/1/7652) from Middle Permian Beaufort Group

The permit is issued to Dr. Bruce Rubidge (University of the Witwatersrand), in collaboration with Dr. Tyler Lyson (Denver Museum of Nature and Science, Colorado), to temporarily export two diapsid specimens from Middle Permian Beaufort Group for non-destructive morphological analysis at Denver Museum of Nature and Science, Colorado. The material is currently housed at the Evolutionary Studies Institute, University of the Witwatersrand.

Conditions:

1. Only the selected representatives of the material stored in the collection may be exported.

2. The material must be carefully packed and all packaging must be clearly marked with the name of the site (if known), and the name and address of the permit holder or the Evolutionary Studies Institute, University of the Witwatersrand.

3. The material will be hand-carried to Denver Museum of Nature and Science, Colorado, by Dr. Bruce Rubidge in August 2017 and back to ESI by Dr. Tyler Lyson in March 2019.

4. Dr. Bruce Rubidge is responsible for its transport to the above mentioned institution and Dr. Tyler Lyson for the analysis of the material and transport back to the ESI.

5. The samples must be used for study purposes only, and may not be sold or exchanged.

6. The material may not be loaned to any person or institution other than the above stated participants in the study, without the consent of SAHRA.

7. No destructive analysis or sampling may be undertaken.

8. An annual report on the activities undertaken in terms of this permit must be lodged with SAHRA on or before 31 August 2018 and a final permit report on or before 31 March 2019.

9. Copies of any papers that may result from the export of the material must be lodged with SAHRA.

10. SAHRA shall not be liable for any losses, damages or injuries to persons or properties as a result of any activities in connection with this permit.

11. SAHRA reserves the right to cancel this permit by notice to the permit holder.

12. Request to renew permits must be done at least two months prior to the expiry of the existing permit.
